Children - Junior Sunday School PDF Print E-mail

Overview

KLWesley JrSS is the exciting and vibrant Church School for children age 3-12 years:

  1. K.I.D.S (Kids In Divine Service) for children who are 7-12 years old
  2. JrKIDS for pre-schoolers of 3-6 years old.

Based on a fun, creative and interactive KIDS Church format the 50 odd JrSS teachers strive to fulfill the following objectives:
  1. help children develop a positive attitude toward WORSHIP and actively participate in it;
  2. help children know BIBLICAL TRUTHS and be able to apply them in their lives;
  3. help children believe in the power of PRAYER;
  4. help children understand COMMUNITY LIFE through building relationships within
  5. children's small groups in Sunday School; and
  6. to provide a CREATIVE, FUN, CARING and GOD-AWARENESS ATMOSPHERE for all these to take place.

In order to meet these objectives, every Sunday School session would have started many weeks before the Sunday itself with a team of teachers planning, praying, painstaking preparing and even rehearsing together the worship and teaching segments. Kids Church Format strives to present spiritual truths from God’s Word in a creative and engaging manner in order to communicate to the children more effectively.

We also believe in being in partnership with parents. Each Sunday, your child will be given a take home sheet which includes a section for the parents’ reading, information and suggested activities to reinforce through out the week the lesson for the day.

What happens every Sunday?

KIDS:

The primary age children gather together in the downstairs hall of the Youth Centre before 10am. Beginning with energetic praise songs and fun games, the children then move into offering and quieter and more contemplative worship songs to prepare them for the Word. Teaching segments that follow are highly visual, interactive, practical and focused - just one spiritual truth a week based on a memory verse. Between 11.00am to 11.30am the children meet in small groups for discussion in various venues in the church. The purpose of small group is basically for friendship, accountability and prayer.

JrKIDS:

The preschoolers meet at the same time in the upstairs hall of the Youth Centre. As each child arrives, he or she is ushered off to creation stations in their various age groups for small group activity related to the lesson for that day. They then come together for a time of action packed praise, offering and worship. This is followed by interactive teaching of one spiritual truth based on a memory verse. Puppets like Teekaboo and Gozer, video segments, skits and object lessons are used to bring home the message to these little ones. They then break off into small group time based on age groups for discussion and craft. Parents will then pick up their children from the various small groups at 11.30am.
